2008 NOV 17 -- Investigators publish new data in the report 'Genomics and proteomics: a new approach for assessing thrombotic risk in autoimmune diseases.' According to a study from Cordoba, Spain, "Several systemic autoimmune conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid syndrome, are characterised by enhanced atherosclerosis and, consequently, higher cardiovascularmorbidity and mortality rates. The association of these diseases with atherosclerosis suggests a common pathogenic mechanism."
