BioReference Laboratories and PVT Announce Agreement to Install PVT Equipment at BioReference

December 31st, 2007

2007 DEC 31 -- PVT GmbH of Waiblingen Germany, an internationally renowned developer of diagnostic laboratory systems, and BioReference Laboratories, Inc. (NASDAQ: BRLI), announced an agreement for the installation of PVT's RSA Pro system at the BioReference facilities in Elmwood Park, NJ. The ultra flexible Aliquoting System RSA Pro is designed to perform front-end and back-end tasks, including aliquoting, decapping, sorting and archiving functions. The modular concept allows customers to build a system for full scale automation. The system has been used successfully at clinical laboratories in Europe and, pursuant to the agreement, five units will be installed at BioReference during the first calendar of 2008. The RSA Pro system will be equipped to meet BRLI individual demand and sample flow.

BRLI is the largest independent regional laboratory in the northeast and a leading provider of diagnostic services in the New York Metropolitan area. In addition, BRLI is probably the largest provider of diagnostic services to the correctional healthcare industry throughout the nation. All routine work is provided at the Elmwood Park location and growth over the past year has been among the best in the industry. In addition to routine physician office services and correctional healthcare, BRLI is a national leader in the area of oncology through its GenPath division and DNA Sequencing through its GeneDx division.

Warren Erdmann, Sr. Vice President of Laboratory Operations, noted: "BioReference is constantly looking for ways to improve efficiencies throughout the laboratory and especially in the specimen processing department. During the past year we have seen an increase of nearly 50% in the number of specimens we handle each night and we expect growth to continue in the foreseeable future. The PVT RSA Pro processors will enable us to maintain and improve our service levels by significantly increasing our processing efficiency. The superior speed of the new units will improve our turnaround time and reduce costly errors. By reducing manual touches and shifting to efficient automation, we will be able to keep pace with our expected growth. We have purchased five units in order to assure the capacity and capability as we move forward."

"We are proud to be part of the dynamic growth in the laboratory industry" said Hans van Mierlo, Sales Director at PVT. "BioReference has been among the fastest growing small companies in America for several years now and their laboratory facilities are among the most modern and best run in the world. This installation underlines our presence in the US markets. Our products are superior for large scale reference laboratories."
