Studies from National Cancer Center Hospital East add new findings in the area of squamous cell carcinoma
2009 NOV 2 -- Fresh data on squamous cell carcinoma are presented in the report 'Expression of podoplanin, CD44, and p63 in squamous cellcarcinoma of the lung.' According to recent research published in the journal Cancer Science, "Recent molecular biological studies have identified podoplanin as a candidate cancerstem cell (CSC) marker in squamous cell carcinoma (SqCC). The purpose of this study was to examine the expression pattern of podoplanin, and the other stem cell markers CD44 and p63, and their relationship to clinico-pathological features including survival in pulmonary SqCC."
