The Investor Relations Group IRG Named as Multiple Finalists in 2009 American Business AwardsSM

2009 JUN 8 - (NewsRx.com) -- The Investor Relations Group (IRG), a full-service corporate communications firm that for over a decade has served smaller publicly traded companies, was named a Finalist today in the “Investor Relations Program of the Year” and “Best Media Website” categories in the 2009 American Business Awards.

The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit entries to the ABAs – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

Stevie Award winners will be announced during the annual gala on Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Six hundred executives from across the U.S.A. are expected to attend. The ceremonies will be broadcast on radio nationwide by the Business TalkRadio Network and hosted by Cheryl Casone of Fox Business Network.

More than 2,600 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than forty categories, including Most Innovative Company, Best Management Team, Best New Product or Service, Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program, and Best Corporate Environmental Responsibility Program. The Investor Relations Group will be competing in the categories of “Investor Relations Program of the Year” and “Best Media Website.”

The first category recognizes IRG’s investor relations efforts on behalf of International Stem Cell Corporation (ISCO), the first company to perfect a method for the creation of human stem cell lines from unfertilized eggs for use in regenerative medicine therapies. Since beginning its work with ISCO in October 2008, IRG has scheduled three management road shows with targeted open market investors and buy/sell-side analysts, held biweekly conference calls with stem cell open market investors and buy/sell-side analysts, and written and issued a number of press releases and IRG subscriber e-newsletters. IRG’s fully integrated corporate communications efforts have also resulted in extensive print, radio, and broadcast coverage for ISCO, including media placements in such publications as The New York Times, The Economist, Genetic Engineering News, PharmaWire, San Diego Union Tribune, BioCentury, and New Scientist, among others.

Launched in February 2009, IRG’s new website, http://www.IRGnews.com, is a first-in-class destination news portal for investors, the public, and media interested in covering the small- and micro-cap space. This multimedia online space features original daily news stories about IRG clients and current events, up-to-the-minute newsfeeds, articles available for syndication, broadcast-quality CEO interviews, corporate videos, blogs, company presentation kits, fact sheets, a press room, and more.

“We applaud Senior Account Executives Adam Holdsworth, James Carbonara, and Laura Colontrelle in leading the outstanding team effort on the International Stem Cell Corporation account,” says Dian Griesel, PhD, IRG founder and CEO. “We are equally psyched to see our website garner this prestigious recognition, especially given that it has been just three short months since our launch. We thank our Chief Operating Officer, J. Kevin Moran, Vice Admiral, USN retired, for his endless commitment to bringing IRGnews.com from concept to reality. Further, we are grateful for the daily ongoing efforts of web master Steven Melfi, our multimedia director Mike Graff, and our IT director Nicholas Patten for their hard work, along with all of the IRG employees that contribute daily toward making IRGnews.com one of the most robust online environments available for small- and micro-cap company news.”

Members of the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners from among Finalists in final judging that will continue through June 3, 2009. Finalists were chosen by business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in April through early May.

“Despite very tough economic conditions, many organizations and individuals continue to perform well,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of the Stevie Awards. “The results of the 2009 ABAs thus far are a testament to the resilience, creativity, and hard work of American organizations, executives, and workers.”

“The American Business Awards serve as an important recognition of everything that is steadfast and true about our collective entrepreneurial spirit,” says Griesel. “It is truly an honor for IRG to be named Stevie Awards finalists in these two categories and we look forward to the gala on June 22.”
