PharmaDerm Donates Mobile Clinic To AmeriCares

2009 JUN 22 - (NewsRx.com) -- PharmaDerm, a division of Nycomed US Inc., announced the donation of a mobile clinic to the nonprofit international disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization, AmeriCares. The contribution was made through Fougera Cares, the corporate giving program of PharmaDerm's sister division, Fougera.

PharmaDerm donated the vehicle on May 27, 2009 at the AmeriCares headquarters in Stamford, CT. AmeriCares officials have arranged to transport the mobile clinic to the Children's Hospital in New Orleans, LA, where it will serve as part of an immunization program that vaccinates children against dangerous childhood diseases.

The RV, specially designed with two exam rooms and a waiting room, was part of a free, nationwide skin cancer screening program. For two years, dermatologists from across the country volunteered their time to conduct skin cancer screenings and provide patient education inside the mobile clinic. At the conclusion of the project, a search began to find a new use for the vehicle.

"This RV has already made an impact on so many lives as a mobile skin cancer screening clinic, and we are delighted that AmeriCares has been able to locate a public health program that was in need and will put it to good use," said David Fink, general manager of PharmaDerm and senior vice president of Nycomed US Inc. "PharmaDerm will continue to look for opportunities to contribute to the long-standing relationship between AmeriCares and Nycomed US."
