Data Presented on ISIS 5320 Anti-HIV Compound

Isis Pharmaceuticals, Carlsbad, California, announced that data were presented showing that ISIS 5320 inhibits HIV viral replication in the SCID-hu mouse model of HIV infection, developed by Systemix Inc.

The data were presented at the 2nd National Conference on Human Retroviruses and Related Infections, held in Washington, D.C., January 29-February 2, 1995.

The SCID-hu mouse model is used by the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to evaluate compounds exhibiting promising in vitro results against HIV-1. SCID-hu mice are immunodeficient mice that are transplanted with human fetal liver and thymus tissue. HIV-1 is injected...
