Beijing Plans New AIDS Hot Line

China's capital, Beijing, will open a second AIDS hot line to cope with increasing numbers of Chinese wanting information on the fatal disease, the official media said.

The hot line, sponsored by Beijing's municipal authorities, will start functioning April 3, 1995, and will work in conjunction with China's first national hot line to provide information about HIV.

The hot line will be operated by the Beijing Venereal Disease and AIDS prevention and treatment association.

There 1,550 reported cases of HIV infection in China, the government says.
