HIV Programs Thwarted by Policies and Cultural Barriers

University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), researchers warn that overblown expectations, restrictions to sound health policy-making, and cultural barriers thwart the implementation of effective HIV risk-reduction programs - and urge that these factors be removed to protect against future HIV infection.

The conclusions of the UCSF team are reported in a study appearing in a special disease prevention issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, April 12, 1995.
