Study Suggests 13 Percent of Those HIV+ Are Long-Term Survivors

Approximately 13 percent of homosexual/bisexual men infected with HIV at an early age will be long-term survivors, remaining free of disease for more than 20 years, according to the predictions of researchers involved in the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study.

Researcher Alvaro Munoz and colleagues based their prediction on data from their ongoing surveillance of men involved in the MACS study.
