BCG Strains Expressing nef Possible Vaccine Vector

It may be possible to construct Bacilli-Calmette Guerin (BCG) vaccine strains expressing nef for eliciting cytotoxic responses for HIV-1 according to a report from France's Institut Pasteur.

Different approaches are being undertaken for the development of a vaccine against HIV. A number of different animal models are being explored to test candidate anti-HIV vaccines including HIV in chimpanzees' and SIV in macaques.
