Bronchiectasis Distinguishes MAC From M. TB

A subgroup of patients with Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) may be distinguished from those with Mycobacterium tuberculosis by the presence of widespread bronchiectasis, particularly if it involves the right middle lobe and lingula.

Pulmonary infection with MAC may occur in subjects with a variety of disorders, especially AIDS. But there is increasing recognition that MAC occurs in subjects who do not suffer from any recognizable predisposing condition.
