The epidemiological data suggest that the most likely source of infection in the female plasma donors was from contaminated equipment used in the collection of plasma and the reinjection of blood cells, stated Zunyou Wu, Department of Epidemiology, Anhui Anti-Epidemic Station, Hefei, Anhui, China, and colleagues ("HIV-1 Infection in Commercial Plasma Donors in China," the Lancet, July 1, 1995;346:61-62).
