"Secretory and Systemic Humoral Immune Responses to Candida Cell Wall Antigens in HIV Infection."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the International Symposium on Clinical Immunology, held July 20-23, 1995, in San Francisco, California, "Oral candidiasis is one of the first opportunistic diseases to develop in HIV infection and may be related to defects in mucosal immunity. This study compared secretory and systemic humoral immune responses to blastospore and hyphal cell wall antigens of different Candida species. Western blots of solubilized surface antigens were probed with pooled whole saliva (IgA) and pooled serum (IgG) from HIV antibody positive and negative patients.
