According to an abstract submitted by the authors to The Lancet Conference 'The Challenge of Tuberculosis', held September 14-15, 1995, in Washington, D.C., "Siberia accounts for almost 75% of the territory of the Russian Federation and is representative of the Russian system as a whole. The aims of the study were to qualitatively review the extent of TB in Siberia, assess the nature and cause of trends seen, and relate this to an assessment of the TB health service structure.
