Funding Initiated To Help Scientists Research AIDS

A special fund to be started in mid-November 1995 is expected to help more African scientists to get involved in research on AIDS, which has so far been dominated by their counterparts in the developed world.

The fund, launched in Paris, France, on November 16, 1995, was bankrolled by African states such as Congo, Uganda, Morocco and Senegal, developed nations like France and a number of international bodies, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
