According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Conference on Global Lung Health and the 1995 Annual Meeting of the IUATLD/UICTMR, held September 9-12, 1995, in Paris, France, "In a total of 26,480 TB cases notified in RS State (Southern Brazil; 266,435 km², pop. 9,700,000) from March, 1989 to Aug, 1994, a group of 608 patents (mean age = 32 ± 10 years; 83% males and 17% females) had both TB and HIV infection.
