Clergy Urged To Care for AIDS Patients

People suffering from AIDS deserve compassion that the clergy has sometimes been slow to provide, a minister said during a conference organized by public health officials.

"We need to be less of a voice of judgment and more of an instrument of grace," Woody Carey, administrator of the AIDS Caring Community of Wisconsin Conference of Churches, said. Carey was among speakers at the conference that the La Crosse County Health Department has tried for several years to organize. About 100 clergy attended.
