"Clusters of Genetically Related Mycobacterium avium Isolates from Patients with AIDS."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 96th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology, held May 19-23, 1996, in New Orleans, Louisiana, "Blood, sputum, and stool isolates of M. avium recovered from 58 AIDS patients enrolled in an epidemiologic study of MAC infection were analyzed using pulsed field gel electrophoresis. Bacterial DNA in enzymatically digested cells was cleaved using Asn I restriction endonuclease, producing {{approx}}10 - 20 bands in agarose gels.
