"Disseminated BCG Disease."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 96th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology, held May 19-23, 1996, in New Orleans, Louisiana, "The attenuated Mycobacterium bovis vaccine strain BCG is given to prevent tuberculosis. Complications from the vaccine itself are rare. We report a new case of disseminated BCG disease in a Brazilian child with an unidentified cellular immunodeficiency. The isolate was identified by biochemical and sensitivity testing, tandem repeat PCRJREA and HPLC.
