Alternative Therapy Use High Among HIV+ Women

Forty-two percent of HIV positive women in Vancouver, Canada use alternative therapies.

G.P. Meneilly of the British Columbia Women and Family HIV Center, Vancouver, Canada, reported on a survey of female patients using the ambulatory HIV clinic to characterize use of alternative therapies. Researchers surveyed the 62 clinic patients and conducted a detailed interview with a subset of 16 patients.

Meneilly spoke at the XI International Conference on AIDS, held July 7-12, 1996 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at a session devoted to the use of complementary therapies.
