Nandrolone Decanoate Found Beneficial in HIV Related Wasting

In selected HIV positive patients with mild to moderate wasting, the anabolic steroid, nandrolone decanoate, appeared to have a positive effect on weight, lean body mass and quality of life," reported Australian AIDS researchers.

Dr. Julian Gold, Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney, and colleagues evaluated nandrolone decanoate in a group of HIV positive men "who had lost 5-15 percent of their usual body weight" and who were resistant to nutritional intervention. In this 16-week open trial, nandrolone decanoate was administered by IM injection every two weeks at a dose of 100 mg/ml.
