The results, which were presented in the August 1996 issue of Nature Medicine, has raised hopes that KS might be prevented if effective drugs or vaccines can be identified or developed to counter human herpes virus 8 (HHV-8), a virus that is detectable in KS tumors (Nature Medicine 1996;2:862-863,918-928).
