To ensure patients are treated equally, physicians are not told whether the person they are seeing is in the managed care plan. Patients receive a full range of services, including inpatient, nursing homes, counseling, and dental care.
Only a few other AIDS dedicated managed care programs have been established. Such programs are risky because if new technology comes along, for example, Hopkins might have to provide an expensive treatment without a change in rates.
