Preventive Treatment Very Effective in HIV+/TB+

A report from the Pulmonary Complications of HIV Infection Study Group adds to the growing evidence that tuberculosis (TB) prophylaxis is remarkably effective in those who are dually infected with HIV and TB.

Although the study coincided with a resurgence of TB in the United States, the incidence of TB in their cohort of HIV positive patients was less that three episodes per 100 person years, regardless of patient characteristic.
