Women Using Condoms to Prevent STDs Continue Hormonal Contraception

Women contract HIV primarily via heterosexual contact.

Educational strategies to prevent transmission of HIV and other sex-related diseases, therefore, encourage women at high risk for acquiring such diseases to insist that their partners use condoms. This prompted concern, however, that these women may, in turn, abandon their use of hormonal contraceptives.
