According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 1st National AIDS Malignancy Conference, held April 28-30, 1997, in Bethesda, Maryland, "Background: The natural history of Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) as a primary presentation of the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) has been well-defined, but there is little known about prognosis following KS in persons with a different primary AIDS-defining illness (ADI). We analyzed a consecutive series of 852 individuals seropositive for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) at Fairfield Hospital between 1984 and 1994.
