"Detection and Follow of Viral Hepatitis in AIDS."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 97th Annual Meeting of the American Gastroenterological Association, held May 11-14, 1997, in Washington, DC, "Longevity and quality of life has been extended in AIDS by newly available pharmacologic agents. Preliminary studies indicate such therapy may also improve survival in AIDS associated viral hepatitis. HBV and HCV infected patients with HIV and normal CD4 counts have a normal response to (alpha) interferon therapy with AZT, Lamivudine and protease inhibitors which may also interrupt progressive HBV disease (JAAMP 7;1996).
