U.S. Patent Issuance Associated With Controlled Release AZT Product for HIV/AIDS

The U.S. Patent Office recently granted a patent covering the use a novel, controlled-release drug delivery system for the administration of zidovudine (AZT), the first line treatment for HIV and AIDS in North America and Europe, and the only treatment currently used in much of the rest of the world.

The patent was issued to Verex Laboratories, Inc., Englewood, Colorado.
