Lead HIV Product Protects Mice from HIV Infection

Progenics Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Tarrytown, New York, announced that PRO 542 demonstrated potent antiviral activity in an animal model of HIV infection.

The results were published in the April 1998 issue of the Journal of Virology (vol. 72, no. 4). PRO 542 is an antibody-like molecule that is designed to selectively target HIV and prevent the virus from infecting healthy immune system cells. PRO 542 is being developed both to treat and prevent HIV infection.
