AIDS' Challenge to Society

In one of a series of essays marking the 150th anniversary of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), which publishes Science, the executive director of UNAIDS, Peter Piot, said that the global research and development agenda for HIV, with its emphasis on the situation in developed countries, "needs to be turned on its head."
