National Resource Facility for HIV, STDS and TB Prevention Opens

Working under contract with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Analytical Sciences Inc. (ASI), Durham, North Carolina, opened a national resource center for the prevention of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and tuberculosis (TB) on July 16, 1998, in Silver Spring, Maryland.

The National Prevention Information Network (NPIN) replaces the CDC's National AIDS Clearinghouse and expands its scope to provide the government's most comprehensive reference, referral and distribution service for people and organizations working to prevent not only HIV/AIDS, but also STDs and TB.
