Agenerase Data Presented at Glasgow Meeting

Double protease inhibitor (PI) therapy including amprenavir (Agenerase; Glaxo Wellcome) significantly reduced viral replication and appears to be well-tolerated through 48 weeks in a small, pilot study in HIV patients.

The results were presented at the 4th International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection, held in Glasgow, Scotland, during November 1998. The study was the first to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Agenerase in a double PI regimen in the absence of nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) therapy.
