"Assessment of the Effect of Foscarnet on Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) in a Randomized Controlled Trial in HIV Infected Patients."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 38th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, held September 24-27, 1998, in San Diego, California, "The effect of foscarnet (PFA) on Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) was suggested by in vitro studies but never demonstrated in vivo. Concomitantly to the assessment of PFA on CMV markers in ANRS 023 trial, EBV viral load in plasma was quantified in 27 HIV infected patients (pts) randomized to PFA 100 mg/kg/12H for 14 days or no treatment.
