Indinavir Dosing Shouldn't Be Dependent on Codosing with Nevirapine

A pharmacokinetic study examining the interaction between indinavir and nevirapine suggests that indinavir dosing should be dependent on drug exposure.

Nevirapine and indinavir have the potential to affect each other's pharmacokinetics.

In a prospective trial, 24 HIV infected subjects on stable nucleoside or no therapy were treated with 800 mg of indinavir every eight hours ("Antiviral Effect and Pharmacokinetic Interaction between Nevirapine and Indinavir in Persons Infected with HIV Type 1," Journal of Infectious Disease, May 1999;179(5):1116-1123).
