According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 10th Symposium on HIV Infection, held June 17-19, 1999, in Toulon, France, "Objective: Immune response to combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) in human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infected adults at early stage of established infection has not been extensively investigated. Treatment effects in HIV-1 infected adults with CD4+ cell count {{>=}}400/mm3, plasma HIV-1 RNA levels {{>=}}5,000 copies/mL and no previous ART have been explored by using a new potent combination therapy (Ziagen (abacavir, ABC) [nucleoside analogue] and amprenavir (141 W94, APV-USAN) [protease inhibitor]). ...
