According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 28th Annual Meeting of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, held September 16-18, 1999, in Rockville, Maryland, "In an era of increasing pressure to bring antiretrovirals to market faster and with an appreciation that the clinical experience of HIV patients may differ from the clinical trial, a comprehensive observational study to collect information on epidemiological, clinical, humanistic, and economic factors was initiated.
