Protease Inhibitor Promising in Treatment-Naive and Treatment-Experienced HIV +

Data from two Phase II studies suggest Abbott Laboratories' investigational protease inhibitor, ABT-378/ritonavir (ABT-378/r), demonstrates antiretroviral activity and tolerability in both treatment-naive and treatment-experienced HIV positive patients after 36 weeks of therapy.

The data were presented at the 39th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), held in San Francisco, California, September 26-29, 1999.
