According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 39th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, held September 26-29, 1999, in San Francisco, California, "Background: HARS has been widely recognized over the past few years. Recent reports on syndrome prevalence in women include data showing that female patients demonstrate symptoms of fat accumulation (FA) rather than fat depletion (FD) [seen more in men]. Little has been presented on prospective treatments for women. Objective: Determine the effect of low dose r-hGH treatment in women presenting with symptoms of HARS including central adiposity, enlarged breasts, and buffalo hump. ...
