Guembel and colleagues reported their surgical experience after sustained-release ganciclovir treatment ("Complications after Implantation of Intraocular Devices in Patients with Cytomegalovirus Retinitis," Graefes Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, October 1999;237(10):824-829).
They also addressed replacing empty ganciclovir implants in patients with AIDS and CMV retinitis.
