HIV+ African American Men Predisposed to HIV Associated Nephropathy

African American men with HIV infection are strongly predisposed to developing HIV associated nephropathy (HIVAN).

B. Mohammed and colleagues from St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center of New York provided epidemiological data on 70 patients from their facility who had HIV infection. Data from their study were presented at the 32nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Nephrology, held November 1-8, 1999, in Miami Beach, Florida. The title of their study was "HIV and Glomerular Disease: A Manhattan Study."
