Combination Therapy Effective in Children

An article published in the December 16, 1999, issue of The New England Journal of Medicine concluded that combination HIV therapy with DuPont Pharmaceuticals' Sustiva (efavirenz) plus nelfinavir and two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors has potent and sustained anti-viral activity in nucleoside-experienced children.

According to the article, this sustained antiviral effect "appears to be similar or superior to that reported with other regimens containing a protease inhibitor."
