No new cases were reported since the first week of April, said Diane Goodwin, spokeswoman for the county Department of Health Services.
The average "older" age of the new syphilis patients was 36, which surprised authorities.
The county responded with a $560,000 campaign of condom distribution, syphilis testing, and precautionary advertisements targeting the gay community, although officials noted the outbreak also affected heterosexuals.
