NIH Grant Supports Anti-HIV Drug Discovery Program

Salus Therapeutics Inc. announced that the company has received a $96,600 Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant award from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the U.S. National Institutes of Health.

This award will support the company's anti-HIV drug discovery program. Senior scientist Zhidong Chen, PhD, will be the principal investigator on the project.

Despite the effectiveness of current antiviral chemotherapies, treatment failure occurs at rates as high as 20%-50% due to drug toxicity and/or development of drug resistance.
