Novel Assay Quantifies HIV-1 Group M and Group O Subtypes

Abbott Laboratory researchers have developed a sensitive assay capable of efficiently quantifying HIV-1 group M and group O subtypes.

"Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) genetic diversity presents a challenge to nucleic acid-based assays with regard to sensitivity of detection and accuracy of quantification," stated P. Swanson and colleagues, Abbott Labs, Illinois.
