International OPTIMA Study Will Target Patients For Whom HAART Has Failed

Researchers from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom are collaborating to evaluate the best treatment strategies for HIV infected patients for whom highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has failed.

Representatives of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Medical Research Council of the United Kingdom (MRC-UK) met in Washington, DC, on March 21, 2001, to complete details of a study that will begin June 1, 2001.
