Chemotherapy With Antiretroviral Treatment Effective For HIV Patients

by Michael Greer, senior medical writer - Researchers say combining full-dose chemotherapy and potent antiretroviral treatments is safe and effective for managing HIV associated non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (HIV-NHL).

L. Ratner and colleagues at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, compared the results of treatment with full and limited chemotherapy regimens in the context of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART).

Chemotherapy at both dose levels was effective and well tolerated, Ratner and team found although better results were seen with full-dose regimens.
