Pediatric Patients Often Have Pathological Lung Changes

by Michael Greer, senior medical writer - Children infected with HIV often have chronic pathologic lung disease, the resolution of which may portend more harm than good, researchers in the United States report.

K.I. Norton and colleagues at the City University of New York Mt. Sinai School of Medicine examined children "with and without maternally transmitted HIV 1 infection born to mothers infected with HIV 1 to determine the incidence of chronic radiographic lung changes (CRC) and to correlate these changes with clinical assessments." The results of their research were published in the American Journal of Roentgenology.
