Minority Patients Slower To Start, Faster To Drop Antiretroviral Treatments

by Michael Greer, senior medical writer - Minority AIDS patients in the United States are more likely to start antiretroviral treatments late and less likely to continue using these drugs, researchers in New Jersey report.

Dr. Stephen Crystal and colleagues at Rutgers University's Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research in New Brunswick conducted a study to "examine initiation of newer antiretroviral treatments across sociodemographic subgroups during the 3 years following the introduction of these treatments, and explore persistence on treatment and its association with patient characteristics."
