New guidelines developed for Pneumocystis pneumonia prophylaxis

"Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) have experienced a dramatic decrease in Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), necessitating reassessment of clinical guidelines for prophylaxis," explained Dr. Sue J.
