"Various nucleic acid assays have been developed and implemented for diagnostics and therapeutic monitoring of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections," according to Christina Giachetti and colleagues at San Diego-based GenProbe.
Giachetti and coauthors combined standard test features with proprietary GenProbe advances in a 3-test system, capable of large-scale blood screening, they said.
